Utah’s Hogle Zoo offers a wide variety of Zoo programming for learners of all ages and interests.

Zoo Yoga

We’re teaming up with Corepower Yoga studios to offer yoga classes at the Zoo. Each class with be held near a different exhibit, and will include an animal ambassador visit and a chance to see some of our animals up close. Classes are for ages 14+ and are $20 per person.   Learn more here

Outdoor Adventures

Want to get out into nature, but you’re not sure where or how? Join Utah’s Hogle Zoo for a monthly outing to learn more about the world around us, get outside, and have some fun! Tot Tuesday

These animal-based inclusive programs are for early learners ages 2-5. Activities are movement-based and incorporates pretend play, fine and gross motor skills, verbal and nonverbal communication, and other appropriate preschool skills. This class series is designed to teach children about healthy living through animal interactions. All abilities are welcome. Registration does not include a Zoo visit.     Sign up here

Kids, Critters, and Crafts

Join us at the Zoo for a wildly entertaining morning of crafting for kids with animal ambassador friends! This program is designed for the budding artistic naturalist in your family. During these 2-hour classes,kidswill get in touch with their creative (and wild) side as they learn about a featured animal, walk through the zoo to see it in its habitat, enjoy a meet-and-greet with an ambassador animal, and create a masterpiece to take home. Lunch with a Keeper

This 90-minute program is great for all ages and provides attendees with a unique opportunity to meet with a member of the Zoo’s keeper and education staff to learn about the animals and how we care for them. Each program includes a pizza lunch, a chance to speak with a zoo keeper, an educator and a special animal session. There must be at least one registered adult per party.     Sign up here


Scout Programs

Hogle zoo offers multiple Boy Scout merit badge classes. We also offer Girl Scout, Cub Scout, and other Boy Scout programs upon request. Check the Events Calendar for class dates and availability.     Sign up here

Zoo Just for You

Zoo Just for You

The  Zoo Just for You programming has been developed for students ages 6-21 with diverse needs. Live animals, photographs, skull models, pelts, animal figures and more are used to engage students and demonstrate concepts. Our program utilizes a sensory motor approach where students move between stations and are encouraged to touch, smell and feel all appropriate items.

Zoo Just for Little You

MagiZoology For Muggles

Lookout Muggles!  The wizarding world is about to collide with the Zoo’s in this magical class about every beast from acromantulas to werewolves! Learn the enchanting powers of animals that hide from muggle eyes, and meet some of the incredible animals that inspired them. You’ll be amazed to discover that animals from the Bornean rainforest have just as much magic in them as the unicorns of the Forbidden Forest. Imps, pixies, doxies and dragons, you’re sure to uncover magic in the animals all around you!

Where the Wild Things Art: Paint Night

Love animals? A budding artist? Or simply want a fun evening at the Zoo with friends while giving back? Join us for a unique event at the Zoo as we paint some of our favorite Zoo animals. Bring your friends, family members, or a group of coworkers for a guided painting event. No experience necessary!

These classes are for adults 18+.

Behind the Scenes Tour

Take a guided behind-the-scenes tour for a look at our Animal Health Center which is not visible from our public viewing spaces.  Tours last approximately 45 to 60 minutes and are limited to groups of no more than eight people.  All participants must be 10 years of age and older and all minors must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Make a Difference for Wildlife

Want to change the world but not sure where to start? The Zoo and Clever Octopus are teaming up to share how single-use plastics are impacting our local waterways and how we can use art to save our streams. Click here for more info and to register for the event.


Do you love animals? Do you think measuring, scrubbing, sweeping and interacting with wild animals would be a perfect day? Have you always wanted to be a zookeeper? Well, here is your chance to see if you have what it takes. Come to the Zoo for a hands-on, behind the scenes, fun-filled day. Participants will spend their day with a staff member watching up-close trainings, cleaning exhibits and creating enrichment for some of our animals. We will provide lunch, a T-shirt and a Keeper-tastic time!

$100 per participant – Ages 12-17

  • Participants must submit a current (within three months of camp date) and certified negative TB test two weeks prior to camp. Please download and complete this form.
  • We reserve the right to cancel the registrations of children registered in sessions that do not match their age/grade.
  • Participants must wear weather-appropriate clothing and close-toed shoes that can get dirty and wet.
  • Due to the nature of the program, each camp is limited to 4 participants, with a minimum of two participants.
  • If a camp must be canceled, participants will be notified in advance.

  • Online Registrations: A confirmation will be sent to you via e-mail once you have registered online for your desired program. If you don’t receive an e-mail confirmation, please check your spam folder. For further questions call (801)584-4562. To register online choose classes from the menu.
  • CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICIES: After registration is confirmed, Utah’s Hogle Zoo adheres to a no-refund, no-credit, no-substitution policy. If you are unable to attend, please consider your payment a tax-deductible donation.
  • NOTICE: Due to various reasons including allergies, known or otherwise, we will NOT be providing snacks during classes and camps this year. Please be sure to send the appropriate number of snacks, a lunch for all day classes and camps as well as a water bottle or drinks for your child. A water fountain is always available and we encourage the use of water bottles.
  • If your child is enrolled in a day class please be sure to send them with a snack and a drink. 
  • If they are enrolled in two day classes for the same day they will need 2 snacks, a lunch and 3 drinks.
  • If your child is enrolled in one of our all day camps they will need to bring 2 snacks, a lunch and 3 drinks for each day.
  • There is a water fountain that is always available and we encourage you to send water bottles with your children.


Utah Master Naturalist

Interested in becoming a Utah Master Naturalist? Each module of the program focuses on studying the different components of these systems including climate, geography, hydrology, plants and animals, as well as how these components interact and are managed in Utah. The mission of the Utah Master Naturalist Program is to develop a corps of well-informed volunteers and professionals who provide education, outreach, and service promoting citizen stewardship of natural and cultural resources within their communities.

Utah’s Hogle Zoo Book Club

Pay just once and join us all year! Join staff from Utah’s Hogle Zoo the first Thursday of the month for a discussion of a different zoo- or conservation-related book each time, with light refreshments. Book club meets from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. For adults 14 and up; please note that we cannot accommodate children during book club meetings.
